What is a life coach's job when it comes to couple issues?

My (ex) girlfriend was seeing a life coach about some problems she had in her life, and she asked me (wile we were dating) if I could come to her sessions so show her “support” for her decision to talk to a life coach and mend what has happened in her life. I was a little reluctant to go see this coach, she is not qualified nor certified in “couples counseling” and her website seemed extremely tacky.

there were several grammar issues, references to her credentials without showing proof of having them, and the testimonials had no references to cross check. I know my girlfriend believed strongly that this woman would help with her life, and she can probably do that, but as far as working with her and I, I was very very uncomfortable seeing her. I asked my ex if we could go see a different councilor who is more qualified, and she initially agreed, but later continued to push me to see her coach instead (she said it was cheaper and she was already seeing her anyways)

so I agreed to attend a session, it was expressed that this session would be for communication skills only, and to help my ex and I realize our love for one another, validate it, and help us grow in a healthy relationship. my ex and I had recently connected after a previous failed relationship (she had an abortion and I did not approve) so we were seeking help on overcoming that obstacle and moving on.

what I encountered was a very rude conversation with a woman who only wanted to identify my issues in front of my ex, and it made me so uncomfortable that after an hour, I left the session. I later asked the coach what that session was all about, and she said that my ex told her that I had anger issues, there was no talking about better communication, no talk about how to love one another and respect one another, this coach told me I had to accept my ex's limitations and if I didn't end the relationship.

I was horrified at how unprofessional this woman was, she later told me that her job is strictly “life coaching” and she is not in any way obligated to make sure Jasmine and I stay together, and after explaining this to me, she told me that it was inappropriate for me to continue to talk to my ex, and that I need to move on.

I am so upset, my ex broke up with me because of this, and her life coach completely supports it. I have asked this coach to mediate for us and help us find a solid ground, you know, tell us we need to stop fighting, look at what is really important, and help bring us together, and she refuses to do it, she just tells me to get on with our lives. we paid her to do this, do you guys think this is what a professional should do?

These days having a personal life coach seems to be a trend nowadays, don’t you think? People even talk about how great and amazing their spiritual guru is. As I was walking on my way home, I even heard two people discuss how their coaches guided him the way to success. That’s good, I thought to myself. So you ask, can you really benefit from a personal development life coach? Personally, if you ask me, I would definitely say yes-but that’s not to say because I also do self improvement coaching. We coaches are getting paid to help make our clients’ lives better.

To consider if you truly can benefit from getting one, well, all you have to think about is to understand some essential stuff about what a personal life coach does and what it can offer you. Now, another question-is it for everyone? Okay, this is another story. You got to bear in mind that having a personal life coach isn’t like magic like pulling rabbits out of hats or making it a panacea to all your problems. Admittedly, getting in touch with our reality is something which most of us struggle with as we go about in our day to day living.

And here’s the thing-your coaches would only be able to be of significant help to you to grasp where you are in your circumstances right now, and help you find out to realize where you want to be in the future. Several approaches to coaching are utilized for the main intention of having someone to tell them candidly about their present circumstances in their lives. Aside from that, coaches are also there to give advice (if they have to) what sort of action to take not just to get moving, but move forward. That’s why, you really have to work it out and communicate with your personal life coach to make sure that both of you are getting what you need.

Now that you know what they do, it’s truly up to you if you want to get those kinds of services. In the end you still get to decide what’s best for you, and it’s your own choice. If you think you’re okay on your own, if you think you’re happy right now and you know where you’re headed, then perhaps it’s not time to have a personal life coach. However, if you think you need a professional to help you, then maybe you need to hire a personal life coach.
